Perth Observatory
Description
Perth Observatory was founded at Mt Eliza by the State Government in 1896 and was relocated to Bickley in 1966. The State Government operated the Observatory as a scientific institution until 2010 when it closed the research program. Among the many achievements of the Observatory was co-discovering the rings of Uranus.
In 2015, the Perth Observatory Volunteer Group took over the running of the Observatory, to ensure the Observatory can continue to operate as a scientific and heritage education facility for both locals and visitors to WA alike.
