WA Seniors Card member benefits

As a WA Seniors Card member you will receive a card that is your WA Seniors Card and Transperth SmartRider in one.

The SmartRider side will give you access to travel on Transperth services for free or on a concession basis.

You can use the WA Seniors Card side to claim a range of State Government concessions and discounts from businesses across Western Australia.

You will also be eligible to apply for monthly competitions offered to WA Seniors Card members.

As a WA Seniors Card member, use the SmartRider side of your card, for free travel on Transperth services from 9.00am to 3.30pm and 7.00pm to 6.00am weekdays, all weekend, public holidays and during Seniors Week.

You will receive a seniors concession rate for travel at all other times.

Cost of Living Rebate

Each July, the State Government makes a payment to registered WA Seniors Card members.

For 2023, the Cost of Living Rebate is $104 for singles and $156 for couples.

New or existing WA Seniors Card members who have not previously applied must ensure that their application is received by the WA Seniors Card Centre by 31 May to be eligible for that year's payment.

Local Government Rates, Emergency Services Levy and Water Rates

WA Seniors Card members can receive a rebate of up to 25% of their rates, conditions apply.

WA Seniors Card members with a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card can receive a rebate of up to 50%, conditions apply.

The Water Corporation registers eligible pensioners and seniors for this rebate on behalf of local government.

Motoring

WA Seniors Card members can receive 50% rebate off their Driver’s Licence and 100% rebate if you also hold a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.

WA Seniors Card members who also have a Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card can receive a 50% rebate on the vehicle licence fee.

Spectacles

WA Seniors Card members can receive up to $54.34 every two years with the purchase of a complete pair of prescribed spectacles or contact lenses every two years.

Other State Government Concessions

The Government of Western Australia provides a range of other rebates and concessions, such as the Country Age Pension Fuel card for non-metropolitan Western Australians who receive an Aged Pension from Centrelink or other eligible pension. All State and Territory governments issue their own Seniors Card and the benefits vary. Generally, businesses (including tours, attractions and accommodation) in one state will usually recognise cards from another. It is best to ask the business if it provides a discount before making a purchase.

Transport

The National Seniors Transport Scheme provides Seniors Card members with concessions on transport throughout Australia. You can use your WA Seniors Card to receive a concession on public transport throughout Australia. If you are travelling to NSW you will need to apply for an Opal Card prior to arriving. Business Discounts

Businesses in most states will allow you to use your WA Seniors Card to get discounts.

The WA Seniors Card provides access to a wide range of discounts from participating businesses across New Zealand.

You will also be eligible to apply for monthly competitions offered to WA Seniors Card members.

Another benefit of the WA Seniors Card program is awarding soon-to-be 100-year-old members with an exclusive Centenarian pin. The pin includes a celebratory letter with an address from the Minister for Seniors and Ageing.
